Only because there are so many chronographs around and a chronograph today is no longer exclusive this does not mean that its making is banal. What many of you would not expect is the fact that the chronograph is the most underestimated watchmaking complication.

Building an in-house chronograph from scratch, this is what IWC did, and manufacturing it in-house is everything else than easy. Believe me doing this however reflects a lot of specific knowledge.

Have you ever asked yourself why there are so few companies offering a real in-house automatic chronograph? I nota bene do not mean any derivate from ETA/Valjoux, I mean in-house developed and produced ones…

These movements are a rare species …
