Ask the CEO. Send me your questions for the upcoming 26th edition of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH).

The SIHH will next Monday in Geneva open its doors. Time to let me know what I shall ask the CEOs. If you have a personal question please, please post it here…

I would call this a unique opportunity! I give you the possibility to ask your personal question(s). Tell me what moves you, what you would like to ask the CEOs of the exhibiting brands at the SIHH.

Just to remember you … These are the brands that will show their novelties during the SIHH 2016 next week in Geneva:

Audemars Piguet, A. Lange & Söhne, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, Greubel Forsey, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Parmigiani, Piaget, Richard Mille, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin, Van Cleef & Arpels and this year for the very first time the independent brands Christophe Claret, De Bethune, H. Moser & Cie., Hautlence, HYT, Kari Voutilainen, Laurent Ferrier, MB&F and Urwerk will participate in Geneva.

Let “first come first serve” be the principle, just in case to many questions accumulate in the next days …

Please use the comment function and please tell me in a few lines who you are (!not a nickname and/or avatar!), where you live and what your personal question is.

Most of the people do not have huge wrists, so some of those ultra-large watches do not suit them at all and I think this modern trend of ultra-large sized watches is ridiculous.

Please create some moderate-sized watches for people without huge wrists.

    From Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

2nd question: when are watches sizes gonna be reasonnable again? NOt everybody wants to wear a watch wanting others to look at it…

    My question to all CEOs:
Let’s be honest, among watch enthusiasts, the current main subject about watches is: their prices!
Every year, watches get more expensive and more expensive, despite many of them having absolutely zero upgrade.
Forex, raw materials … many excuses that fall when you make a strict scrutiny of, for ex, the increase of raw materials versus the end price increase …
Now that it seems emerging markets aren’t going big anymore … when are you guys gonna think about US/Europeans regular watch enthusiats who get shocked when they have to pay 10 000 USD or more for a 3 hands steel watch with a standard or very old movement inside?
When arr brands gonna realize prices have become crazy … and that it may be a part in the current slowing business of brands (we all know some subcontractors have to fire people …)?

    (for any CEO)

Mechanical watches and smartwatches may not be direct competition, but they do compete for time on the wrist. With the rising popularity of smartwatches, esp. among a younger generation, how do you see them coexisting with mechanical watches?

    Alexander,
Please ask Mr. Riedo, “What are JLC’s marketing plans for the next 5 years, to bring brand awareness to a larger audience?”
    Sincerely,
    -Dean

This is in interesting question, in the last teen years I have met only one wearing a Jeager watch, he was a mad Jeager lover like myself.

When I been in Jaeger boutiques different places in world, they are always empty. I have several times asked, are you selling watches at all, but wouldn’t give any answer.

Please can you tell him, I will be wearing my Reverso Grant Date for 85 years birthday of Reverso.

    Alexander,

Please ask Georges Kern ( IWC ) if we will ever see a reduced size “Big Pilot ” variation say around 41-42mm. I realize that the name BIG Pilot might not be applicable to a smaller version, but as a huge IWC fan, please pass on a suggestion for a possible name…”Co-Pilot”.

What exactly do you mean by “Big Pilot” with 41 mm? For sure you know the current Mark XVII, which has exactly 41 mm diameter. Why does the Mark XVII not work for you? Or, what would qualify it to be a Big Pilot (besides being “big”, what you actually don’t want :-))?
If you think it needs to run with the 52 movement – no way. The movement itself has already 38 mm diameter…

      1. says: Andy

        Mendis,

Thank you for your reply and interest. While the current MARK 17 does indeed measure 41mm ( soon to be MARK18-40 mm ) a number of IWC’s newest SIHH Pilot releases will be downsizing diameters to accommodate a growing number of customers who would like to acquire IWC pilot pieces but are unable due to current sizing.

I’m confident that a reduced variation of the iconic BIG PILOT with it’s onion crown, power reserve sub-dial, single date at 6:00 and an in-house movement that IWC deems appropriate would be well received by IWC fans wanting to sport such a historic design that mirrors it’s big brother. You would certainly find me at the front of the line that forms.

The MARK series unfortunately does not incorporate the above mentioned features and is in a league of it’s own and well deserved. Simple and pure, the MARKS should remain with that DNA.

I’m quite sure Mr. Kern has heard the calling for a smaller version BP many times and with the sweet spot of watch diameters edging lower by many manufacturers including IWC, what a perfect time to introduce a BP Jr.

Very much would like to hear IWC ‘s thoughts on the feasibility of bringing a new version of the BP to the collection. My hope is that Alexander will have the opportunity to address my request and IWC responds with some positive news…..fingers crossed !

        Andy

    Dear Alexander,

Would you be so kind if you have the opportunity to ask Mr Bonati if there will be any regular production (non limited) bronze model(s) in the future?

Thank you and good luck on SIHH!

    Evert

To all CEO’s from Richemont Group: watch prices and production numbers have both increased a lot in the past years, creating an excess of inventory around the world. Now that the demand is slowing down in Asia, how will they adapt and adjust?
