Vacheron Constantin: Introducing the Fiftysix Tourbillon

At this year’s SIHH in Geneva, Vacheron Constantin unveiled the Fiftysix Collection as a tribute to their reference 6073, a timepiece eponymously created in 1956. The collection comprised three models: automatic, day-date and a complete calendar – available in both pink gold and stainless steel. While the references presented at the Salon mainly targeted new customers and younger collectors, the Geneva-based manufacture now follows up with a major horological complication. The new Fiftysix Tourbillon was exclusively launched at London’s famous Abbey Road Studios earlier this week. It features the manufacture’s calibre 2160, a self-winding tourbillon movement with a peripheral winding rotor.

The Fiftysix Tourbillon features a silvered two-tone opaline dial with sunburst decoration. The Arabic numerals, hour markers and hands are manufactured from 18kt rose gold and highlighted with blue luminescent material. Due to the larger movement and the tourbillon, the case size increased from 40 to 41mm, remaining relatively slim at 10,9mm. Just like to other references within the Fiftysix Collection, the new model picks up several features from the original 1956’s design: distinctively shaped lugs, a box-type crystal and a self-winding movement.

A transparent case back showcases the Swiss automatic in-house caliber 2160. Measuring 31 mm in diameter and 5.65 mm in thickness, it features a peripheral rotor with 30 jewels and provides a power reserve of 80 hours. The watch and its movement are certified by the Hallmark of Geneva, which guarantees high precision and specific standards of decoration.

The Fiftysix Tourbillon comes on a brown alligator leather strap with calf inner shell and tone-in-tone
stitching. It is priced at €
118.000 and will be available exclusively at Vacheron Constantin boutiques as of April 2019.
