I am a passionate skier. What I discovered in Zermatt last week is quite outstanding and unique. Hublot branded the newest chairlift and gave it its name. In the winter season 2017 hundred thousands of skiers will use the chairlift.
On the Bahnhofstrasse, the main road in the Zermatt, you find more watch-stores and boutiques than anything else. Hublot, Omega, Patek Philippe, Rolex, TAG Heuer, Swatch and Zenith operate their own boutiques all other major brands are being represented by either Bucherer, Haute Horlogerie Schindler or Chronometrie Stäuble. Wherever you go in Zermatt you see watch-advertisings and sponsored clocks showing you the time.
Where Hublot really excels is in its branding of the newest chairlift in the huge ski arena of Zermatt.
The Hublot-Express is a modern and luxurious chairlift entirely branded by the brand that links the arena of Gornegrat and Sunnegga. So everyone skiing in Zermatt will probably use this chairlift more than once a day.
IMHO this is an amazing effort to attract the attention of hundred of thousands of skiers and a complete new way of advertisement.

Sorry but I fail to see what’s so outstanding. They were simply willing to pay more than the other brands.
To an extent I sometime think it’s all there’s left to this industry.
Just like Tissot with the Peak Walk at Gstaad.

I started with six years and later I passed the exams to become a skiing instructor. But I never really worked as one, it was more fire the fun of it…
