After football, American basketball, and recently cricket in India and Australia, Hublot has today signed with the World Poker Tour here in Las Vegas to become Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the international poker circuit.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, told me: “Hublot has once again proven itself to be first, unique and different, as the first luxury brand to become Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the international professional poker circuit. We chose the World Poker Tour because its global presence, televised tournaments and quality of its players make it a benchmark in the game. I strongly believe that this field has great commercial and marketing potential. The tremendous success of our boutiques in Las Vegas and Macau are evidence of the possibilities. I am delighted with this great collaboration that awaits us.”

Adam Pliska, President of the World Poker Tour added: “Hublot is a Swiss luxury brand renowned across the globe for its sports watches with an instantly recognisable design. This partnership will bring even more value to each and every televised event of the World Poker Tour. In April, Champion of season XII of the World Poker Tour, Keven Stammen beat Byron Kaverman in Borgata, and received the magnificent prize of a Hublot King Power Unico. We are delighted to be able to give almost 1 million dollars’ worth of luxury watches to the champions of our televised events and the Hublot WPT Player of the Year in the upcoming seasons.”

To mark the announcement of Hublot’s entry into the world of poker, the brand has developed a limited-edition Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour with a design that suitably encapsulates the poker world. The watch chosen to entice the players was the iconic Big Bang, equipped with the in-house UNICO Manufacture Chronograph. The calibre is unique in the industry for its column wheel and double clutch visible on the dial side.

The new detail – which gives this watch its resolutely “poker” character – is a bezel made of 18-carat King Gold or steel that features an interplay of two different treatments, polishing and micro-blasting, which in particular showcase a heart, spade, club and diamond, the distinctive and universal symbols of card players.

The UNICO Chrono calibre is revealed thanks to a skeleton dial featuring the voluminous indexes and Arabic numerals, hollowed out and filled with red SuperLuminova. Two counters encircled by polished silver-plated rings, the first displaying the minutes at 3 o’clock and the second showing the small seconds at 9 o’clock, along with the date window located at 3 o’clock, complete the overall effect. The sapphire crystal of the case-back also bears the symbol of the World Poker Tour in transfer form.

This 45.5 mm diameter Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour is available in two versions:

  • a limited edition of only 100 numbered pieces in 18-carat King Gold (Hublot 18-carat gold with an extra 5% platinum which gives it an even more intense red colour, thereby making it even more precious), and
  • a more impact resistant steel edition, of 200 numbered pieces.

Each watch is equipped with the Hublot Easy One Click system which allows the wearer to switch easily between the three straps that come with the watch. All are made of alligator stitched onto rubber, and come in black, red and above all gold or silver treated, which confers upon the watch a very… “poker”-look.

King Gold: 45.900 USD

Now Hublot have enter the world of casino. In Singapore the casino have two exit doors, the happy door is beside Hublot boutique, the unhappy door is beside the bar.

Hublot is bringing out limited edition every week, to buy one you need a fat bank account, when you want to sell it, you may get enough to buy a cup of coffee.

What is the next world Hublot will enter into, nobody knows.

I am sure some people will like these watches and buy, but, I think these are over-the-top as well as extremely blingy!

There’s no accounting for taste. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that they sell well in Las Vegas , that says it all. 30 million is small beer for viewing figures, I can understand why they sponsor football for example, they probably get that many viewers every week. I don’t dislike hublot , I have a senna limited edition just not a fan of brash watches & marketing. Call me old fashioned!

    1. The watches are only the small deal… The BIG DEAL is to be the major sponsor and partner of the World Poker Tour. All poker games are covered by all big news and sports channels and an exclusive poker channel is transmitting worldwide. 30 million people per year watch the games. The tables where poker is played are prominently branded with the Hublot logo, a huge Hublot clock takes the time, Hublot inserts are shown on the screen and all the winners are awarded with an Hublot timepiece. The media coverage is huge and the crowd following these poker games increases every year. That’s THE REAL BIG DEAL. By the way: those who saw the watches yesterday here in Las Vegas really liked them. So again: Hublot really performed!!!! You might not like the style, I might not like it either, but others do… The Hublot boutique at the Cesar’s Palace shopping mall is the best performing boutique world wide. They sell like hell… Only yesterday evening some of the invited guests spontaneously bought watches… That’s reality!

F1 and Ferrari one year, then Football , NBA stars and Poker at Cesars Palace next. Whatever makes the headlines and big bucks. Whats next? Buying Hublot with Bitcoins? Alexander, why not make a stand instead of dancing to the riduclous marketing driven horology of Hublot that undermines the image and confidence in the highend of swiss watchmaking tradition.
