First outlook at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2014. Baume & Mercier will launch the Clifton Chronograph.

Baume & Mercier Clifton Chronograph

The Clifton Collection pleases and it sells and that´s real good news for Baume & Mercier. A line extension with a chronograph will be shown in Geneva in January at the SIHH 2014. I have first pictures for you …

Two Clifton models have just won prices at the public election of the Watches of the Year here in Austria and at Munichtime in Munich. I will provide you the results just after writing and posting these novelties.

But now let us first have a look at the new Clifton Chronograph. Here is what Baume & Mercier wrote me:

With the ideal proportions of its masterful design, the decidedly urban design of this new 43 mm Baume & Mercier Clifton (steel) Chronograph inspired by the «golden fifties» offers an undeniable vintage appeal. All the pieces of this well-balanced collection contain a Swiss-made ETA 7750 Calibre self-winding mechanical movement for reliability, endurance and precision. Manufactured to the highest Swiss watchmaking standards, the movement can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. In addition to hours and minutes, the timepieces show the day and date in an open display at the three o’clock position. When a slight pressure is applied to the push pieces, the watches give information on timed intervals using their large central seconds hand and interval display counters. These streamlined, eminently masculine chronographs, a new landmark in the Baume & Mercier collection, are available in three versions to suit various personality types. Purists will note the meticulously cambered curves of its subtly timeless design. Worn on an alligator skin strap fastened with a triple folding buckle with safety catch or for a sporty look, on a steel bracelet with flexible links, this watch reinforces the look of a modern gentleman.

Yes it is very attractive; I saw one a few weeks ago and was impressed at how it looked. Ive been trying to look up some reviews on this watch but havent really seen much. I was just wondering if you think its a good watch to buy especially at its price.

Good looking Eta 7750 stoppers from B&M, indeed. They look similar to the Union Glashütte Noramis models and the Paul Picot Gentleman 42 (with Eta 7753). I personally prefer the Paul Picot stopper, because it is a perfect looking tricompax version in a handsome size and has no date. By the way, IMHO Paul Picot is an underestimated brand. What do you think, dear Alexander?

The blue handed version is absolutely stunning. Simple, elegant and very very beautiful. Any idea on the pricing, or do we have to wait for the launch next year?

The thing, which I like most about Baume & Mercier watches, is they are quite affordable and ordinary watch lovers can easily buy those lovely watches.

The stainless steel version with blue hands is absolutely stunning. Any idea on cost? Or do we have to wait for the launch next year?

I just bought one today in Singapore. Starting price is 5.2k SGD, I had it for 4k SGD which is around 3.2k USD. My first good watch so not sure how good it is compare to others in this range, but I love it!!

Classic, versatile, workhorse movement, good price point (I’m sure). What’s not to like?

My personal preference is probably the second one: black strap, blue hands.
