Baume & Mercier today scores with its good and classical design. The success of the new Clifton collection is not a coincidence. Please discover four historic Baume & Mercier models that inspired the designs of contemporary watches of the brand.
During the entire Art Deco period Baume & Mercier asserted its style and left an enduring imprint on the field of watch design. During the 1950s and 60s the company was constantly in pursuit of the equilibrium symbolized by the Greek letter (Phi) – the current Baume & Mercier logo – laid the groundwork of what is now considered the archetypal traditional round watch. Baume & Mercier thus launched various chronographs equipped with functions such as moon phases or triple date displays, as well as a collection of round watches with a simple design and pared-down dials.
The emblematic Golden Fifties watches today enable the Baume & Mercier to return to its roots and gain inspiration from the past in creating collections such as Capeland and Classima, as of course well as the new and very sucessful Clifton line.
Can anything be more beautiful?
Fantastic watches a joy to view.Thanks.
I wish that their Capeland models didn’t have the date display although I understand its usefulness to many. It would just make the watches more beautiful and truer to their heritage-inspired models.
Nice photo essay. I didn’t know about their rich history.
The history goes back until 1830…
