Zenith + Historic Cars + 2000 km rally on roads around France = Tour Auto 2016. A story for petrol heads …

I met Aldo Magada, CEO of Zenith, in Paris for the start of the legendary Tour Auto 2016 historic car rally, with both a competition and a regularity class. Listen to my interview with Aldo, see the chronograph and the cars…

I have to confess I am a petrol head. I like everything that has three pedals (I prefer the old way of changing the gears) and four wheels (I do no longer ride bikes and I am no longer interested in them). In fact I like and drive old and new cars and I like to share my passion with other petrol heads …

Tour Auto exists since 1992. The historic car rally in France started six years after the last Tour de France Automobile sports car rally was held on roads around France. Since last year Zenith is one of big partners of Tour Auto. For the last years and the actual edition Zenith presented a special limited El Primero chronograph. I personally like the 2016 edition much more than the one from last year.

Zenith presented this good looking, cool El Primero chronograph limited to 500 pieces dedicated to the classic car rally raced on French soil …

The chronograph´s dial is revealing the escapement of the El Primero movement equipped with a silicon escape-wheel and lever. The automatic El Primero column-wheel chronograph is COSC-certified and as already mentioned above a limited edition of 500 units. The El Primero chronograph is sold for 9800 Swiss Francs.

Aldo is actually participating at Tour Auto 2016 in this red Jaguar E-Type 3,8 L from 1964 …

Who’s is partner Daniel Spadini? A cool guy! He manufactures all these giant wall-clocks that look like wrist watches for the entire watch industry 🙂

Love the Ford Galaxy. It takes me back as dad drove one when I was a kid.

The watch itself is a little too busy for my taste but I do like the cut out on the dial. Glad Zenith is doing that again.

If Zenith win this race, the demand for mr Magada limited edition watches will be so high, it will end up in a dogs fight between drivers in Paris, Mr Magada can triple the price, drivers are still willing to pay And will be able to sell all 500 before return back home.

    1. Aldo will probably not win but he is for sure enjoying the days on the roads in France. It’s all about emotions and having a good time… I am pretty sure that Zenith will sell these beautiful chronographs around the world in its retail network. I know that in Vienna there has already been sold one to a non participant of Tour Auto…

The Zenith looks just like mine except for the dial, strap and pusher detail.
Great to see all the cars of my youth. I wish I knew the Jag was going to be an icon of the era.
    Great photos as usual, Alexander.
