Chopard Superfast a new milestone in the Classic Racing collection

Chopard Superfast Chrono

Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele today presented the Superfast-Collection at the Ascari Racing Resort together with his friend Jacky Ickx. Follow me to discover the new watches and enjoy a exclusive HD-video on high-speed-lap with Jacky Ickx on the racetrack in a Porsche GT3RS.

The launch of the Chopard Superfast Collection is also a milestone for Scheufele family. In the Classic Racing collection line extension for the first time the new movements from Fleurier Ebauches workshops are going to be used. For those of you who read the name Fleurier Ebauches for the first time let me explain what this is. These Chopard movements, which for the first time equip models in the Classic Racing collection, are produced in the Fleurier Ebauches workshops. The company was founded by Chopard in July 2008 in Fleurier, in the Val-de-Travers region (Canton Neuchâtel) in order to produce in-house movements in bigger quantities for Chopard. Several months earlier, in December 2008, Chopard had acquired a 6,000 m2 plot of land that already housed an industrial building with a 5,100m2 production surface area. Entirely renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, the new company premises were inaugurated in February 2009. Endowed with an annual production capacity of 5,000 movements in 2012 (a figure that is expected to rise to 15,000 movements/year by 2015), Fleurier Ebauches expresses the determination of Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele to strengthen the group’s vertical integration in order to ensure its long-term independence, while also increasing production. In 1996, the group had already created Chopard Manufacture, a company located near Fleurier Ebauches and which represents the Haute Horlogerie division dedicated to developing, producing and assembling L.U.C calibres. The Chopard Group currently employs around 160 people in Fleurier, exercising 15 or so different professions. Three new watches, three new calibers: Displaying hours, minutes and seconds, as well as the date through a window at 6 o’clock, the new Superfast Automatic is equipped with self-winding Chopard Calibre 01.01-M. The Superfast Power Control model is equipped with self-winding Calibre 01.02-M. It offers a range of functions comprising hours, minutes, small seconds at 6 o’clock, the date through a window at 3 o’clock, and a power-reserve indicator in a sector-type display at 9 o’clock. The Superfast Chrono houses Chopard Calibre 03.05-M, a mechanical self-winding movement powering hours, minutes, small seconds at 6 o’clock, a window-type date display between 4 and 5 o’clock, a tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel, and a chronograph with sweep seconds hand, minute counter at 3 o’clock and hour counter at 9 o’clock.

I do invite you now to listen to Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele. This afternoon he presented me Superfast the Classic Racing collection line extension.

Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele today at the Ascari Racing Resort

Watches were one part of the excitement of this wonderful day racing was the second part. At the Ascari Racing Resort here in Spain near Marbella we were able to experience some super fast cars on the privately owned racing track. Driving these racing cars gave us a real feeling of being fast.

Mr. “Le Mans” Jacky Ickx was among us sharing this experience with us. Have you ever driven a Porsche GT3RS? Has Jacky Ickx ever been your personal driver? No? So please enjoy this short video and get an impression what it is to drive a Porsche GT3RS on a race track when Jacky Ickx pushes the car to his limits…

My personals respect also for Mr. Karl-Friedrich Scheufele who afterwards gave me the opportunity to share with him another high-speed-lap in the Porsche GT3RS.

If you are going to wonder why Mr. Scheufele looks like Santa Claus, please let me give you an explanation for that …  For hygienically reasons we were supposed to wear an kind of an individual white “cap” under the helmet. This “cap” would also protect the area around you mouth in case you would use a fully closed helmet. The one we were using instead were half open so the piece of the “cap” supposed to protect your mouth had no real function. By swiping the piece under your chin we simply all looked like super fast Santa Clauses…

Please enjoy the video with Santa Claus aka Karl-Friedrich Scheufele! 🙂

This are pictures taken today at the Ascari Racing Resort and of course pictures from the new Chopard Superfast watches…
