Today at the official press conference in Zurich, Swatch Group CEO Nick Hayek talked about the new partnership and initiatives in support of Beach Volleyball, its players and fans.

“Beach Volleyball is a wonderful sport, a thrill for the players and very exciting for the fans. We’ve had great fun in the past and now we want to push it further with the new Major Series in collaboration with the FIVB. With the players we share a passion for this great, young sport and look forward to the upcoming tournaments.”

And as a pleasant side effect we saw the new Swatch Touch Zero One on Nick Hayek´s wrist. The red arrow points at it …

The watch will only be launched officially this summer at the FIVB World Tour when it stops in Klagenfurt in Austria. Here the European Championship will be presented by Swatch and organized by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) under the auspices of the FIVB, international volleyball’s governing body.

Beach Volleyball is played all over the world, on beaches and in stadiums filled with huge crowds stomping their feet and clapping their hands as the action kicks up thrills and chills. Swatch and Beach Volley go way back – and now there’s a this new Swatch Touch that is going to make the game even more exciting!

Swatch Touch Zero One takes the already popular Swatch Touch one step further, adding great new functions to pump up the excitement for both players and fans.

It has all the Touch features, from the curved touchscreen and built-in backlight to finger-tap and side-swipe access to six timing functions.

Swatch Touch Zero One is a touchscreen Swatch with finger-fun access to multiple Beach Volley functions right on the Swatch, and tons more information when connected to the free Touch Zero One App (Android and iOS).

Swatch Touch Zero One is 100 % Swiss made and the Swatch will be sold at around 135 Swiss franc

It’s a Swatch, so there’s no need to charge it up every night – the standard Swatch battery lasts for almost a year (depending on the use of course).

Even before it’s hooked up to the Android and iOS App, three Beach Volley functions are right at your fingertips on the touchscreen display.

 

So guys this is ONLY the first step of the Swatch Group entering the fitness and smart watch segment. Already the name leaves much space for many more new products…

    Let the games begin! I’ll stick with Pebble. They announced a new user friendly System Development Kit (SDK) today. It is free to use and completely open so anyone can develop apps for Pebble. You can charge money for your app too. That is your business.
