My very special look back at the 24 Hours of Le Mans / 24 Heures du Mans 2014

I was following the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2014 a little. Audi took the first and second place. In a small collage I want to show you some of the watch brands participating in the race.

This year Porsche tried its comeback in Le Mans, unfortunately the highly motivated team did not succeed. Porsche was doing pretty well in the beginning but Audi was simply better. Also Toyota, who had the lead in the beginning, could not beat Audi this year.

Team AF Corse under Hublot colors won the race in the famous GTE Pro category. The Ferrari 458 Italia – Number 51 – finished the race two laps ahead of its direct rivals.

So far very brief the motorsport relevant facts for you.

For me it was interesting to observe the “competition” of the different watch brands that are sponsoring the teams.

Audi had Oris on board, Porsche Chopard, Ferrari Hublot, Rebellion off course Rebellion and Aston Martin Jaeger-LeCoultre to name you just the prominent ones.

Rolex played the key role in Le Mans. Rolex is the official timekeeper and a big sponsor of the entire event.

I invite you to have a look at my little picture collage.

Just curious, Alexander, but do any watches sponsor Gran Prix motorcycle racing?
As always you have the right stuff at the right time.

Dear Alexander, i’ve just returned home after a great visit to Le Mans so its very nice to read this. Le Mans is not only cars, its a very special event in which cars, watches and a special band between all the visitors of all countries come together. You must see and feel it. There was a Rolex stand as well and when i came in a very nice guy helped me and took all the time of the world. Super. So next year go to Le Mans and see the race, hear the noise and smell the dirt.

I totally agree with Steve. Watches AND Le Mans !!! I managed about 9 hours on the excellent Eurosport channels 1 and 2. Martin Haven’s coverage along with the rest of his team was faultless. Gorgeous and special Rolexes indeed.

Isn’t the Alpine A450 Nissan Team Signatech ‘sponsored’ by RALF TECH?

    Best regards,

    Marc

Just a personal note. I’ll never forget attending the St. Petersburg GP (Indy Cars) a few years ago and having my wife take a pictire of me in front of the Hublot pace cars while in the paddock. That year the Ferrari guys were there for some track time/racing, Ferrari only, thus the pace car for their piece of the racing weekend.

Racing and watches; what could be a better combination?

(Well, at least to me. Your opinion my vary.)

Nice photo essay. Thank you, Alex! Seeing the current Rolex Daytona made me yearn for the Pandas that were rendered in previous posts!
