Omega Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Limited Edition … unique style and design … only 316 pieces will be sold.

Omega Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Limited Edition

This is the second Omega special edition chronograph for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Let me show you the new Omega Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Limited Edition. Click on “read more” to see the chronograph…

Omega launched this Seamster chronograph in the year 1969. Due to its characteristic look – like the head of a bull – collectors began to name the watch “Bullhead”. Today the Seamaster Bullhead ranks among the most iconic Swiss chronographs. The Rio 2016 edition for sure will keep the name Bullhead once again alive …

Omega presents the new Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Limited Edition exactly one year before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will start.

So far, so good, but let us for a moment simply forget this and just admire the chronograph itself. Since I very much like the color blue for watches this is a stunning beautiful chronograph for me 🙂

Omega Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Limited Edition will be limited to only 316 pieces. The watch is equipped with the Omega Co-Axial Calibre 3113 and stamped with the Rio 2016 Olympic Games logo on the caseback. The latter – by the way – something I voluntarily could do without.

The Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Limited Edition will be sold as the Omega reference 522.12.43.50.04.001 for 8000 Euro including 20 % VAT here in Austria ( and I assume all over the world) in a couple of days from now …

Just in case: The Bullhead Rio 2016 is of course also recognised by its blue leather strap with multi-coloured stitching in yellow, green, red and black. Of course these colors represent the Olympic rings …

But this is not the only Rio 2016 special edition Omega has to offer. The picture shows you both Rio 2016 chronographs …

What do you think?

This is what I think: If you like all the action and glamour of Olympic Games this is a nice chronograph to honor all that, but it could also be just a wonderful “normal” timepiece of the regular Omega collection …

I on the other hand love it. Always wanted one of these. For me it falls into the same category as the Hamilton Ventura, you either love or hate it , but no way can you every mistake it amongst the masses of similar same old boring watch designs. An instantly recognisable icon !

Love it, will be doing my best to get hold of one. Could be very collectible in the future as well.

Interesting comments! I have to see this Olympic Bullhead on my wrist. If it passes this test, I might buy one. This is not a mainstream watch for sure and therefore you either like it or not. I do like it!

This is merely a styling exercise. The silly “bullhead” configuration is useful if the watch is off your wrist and you are actually using it as a stopwatch. Otherwise, your right hand gets in the way and it is VERY awkward to manipulate in actual event timing. However, this was never the intent since this silly thing (and most other “chronographs”) don’t even measure tenths of seconds…a necessary ability to evaluate timed events. Some very ugly watches become collectible because they are/were useful. Like old Mercedes-Benz cars. This is not useful nor
    easy to use. Just ugly.

I have been a fan of Omega since 1956 or 1957, but I regret to say that Omega Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Limited Edition is one of the ugliest Omegas I have ever seen.

On the other hand, I liked the looks of Omega Speedmaster Mark II Rio 2016 very much.

I guess there are lots of people that go out of their way to be different and these sort of persons would buy those 316 watches.

        1. I also very much like the Heuer Monaco, so I could be among those wanting to wear something different on the wrist and to make it even more hard to understand in white & blue… 🙂

I agree with you, Alex. Interesting color scheme and besides the case back, nothing to over-the-top in terms of Olympic branding. My only question is how the multi-colored stitching looks in person.

This has to be IMHO the ugliest watch I have
Ever seen in this price range. It would be ugly if it were a Quartz kiddies item.

    1. David, Robert, honestly I expected nothing else then such comments. Already the Bullhead case polarized a lot and then of course the color. Since I like Omega’s Bullhead design in general and then on top the combination of blue and white I see this Seamaster through different eyes
